People’s Opinion about Kebaya

​      Kebaya is Indonesian traditional clothes that already use by people at long time ago, specially used by old people in Java Island. But now designer make Kebaya more flexible and modern, so the young people want to wear Kebaya because the design is not boring and stuffy anymore. But in the negative side they change the truth meaning of Kebaya.

There are a few opinion from different people about Kebaya :

1.      Yenny Wahid as the Politician.

​      She thought that now Kebaya has its followers, because not just adult wear it but teenager also wear it. “There is no limit for creativity. Kebaya turn into many design from the traditional one to modern one and also to the extreme one” She said. Our people believe that the truth meaning of Kebaya was gone, but Yenny has her opinion “there is two sides of Kebaya, the old one and the modern one, and it's not the problem at all. It’s all about the taste and creativity”. She thought there is no reason to make debate between the traditional style and the modern style. But the right thing we should do is keep up our traditional clothes “Kebaya” from extinction

2.      Vanila as the Citizen of Indonesia.

​      “Kebaya is so interesting and I love looking at people who wear Batik and Kebaya. And I think Kebaya is really gorgeous and it’s not lose with another fashionable clothes. Now Kebaya has modern version, and now not just Indonesian who can feel the beauty of Kebaya but International people can feel that beauty. But the negative side of Kebaya is kebaya not comfortable if you’re using it as daily clothes” She said.

3.      Some Comments on Twitter at Kartini Day

​      “Actually, wearing Kebaya could be like wearing another comfort clothes if you can choose the right material at the right moment. Me as an Indonesian proud to wear Kebaya at formal events. Why aren't we wear Kebaya at the Office? #AyoPakaiKebaya” Lily Marpaung tweet as an Associate Managing Editor L'OFFICIEL.

​      “It’s really fun to following #AyoPakaiKebaya program. Not just in Kartini Day, but we can wear it as daily clothes at the office, but we should smart to choose the suitable material, so we would comfy when we wear it. My Client was surprise when they saw me wear Kebaya at the office. And I explained what had happened, it’s not just euphoria. Kartini make a program where we could wear Kebaya as daily clothes at the office” Atiek Wardini tweet as a Head Marketing of KARTINI.

​      “It’s so interesting, when the feeling at office is so different when all my friends wearing Kebaya. Because this is the first time I see all my friends wearing Kebaya, and it’s looking special. Maybe my friends should choose the right material of Kebaya so they would be comfy to wear it” Turida Wijaya tweet as a Photographer of KARTINI.

There are a few opinion from my group about Kebaya :

1.      Akhmad Jarullah as a Student

​      I think Kebaya its very unique because it has many design and each of design can be improve to make an another or new design, imagination become the limit to make design in Kebaya. Because that improve Kebaya now is flexible. You can use it in formal or non-formal because it would be looking okay and Kebaya is the flexible one. Because Kebaya is really unique, that unique item make Kebaya become the one of Indonesian icon. This icon has already known by world. All women who wearing Kebaya, she instantly become gorgeous. I think nothing problem if that is the modern Kebaya or the old one. It’s still exist because all Indonesian want our Kebaya still exist. It’s our heritage, so this is also our job to making sure that our Kebaya could be exist in this modern era. And for all designer, please don’t make Kebaya too sexy and don’t make Kebaya be the indecorous one, we must keep the value of Kebaya.

2.      Alfin Huda as a Student

​      Kebaya is Indonesian heritage. Now, people just wearing Kebaya when there is at marriage or formal party, long time ago Kebaya used as a daily clothes. But with the new innovation from the designer, Kebaya can be used as we want because the design already follows this era and the design is not boring anymore. So as my opinion Kebaya must be exist! So Kebaya not disappear and gone from this world. But in the critic side, Kebaya must be close and decorous, don’t make Kebaya too open and indecorous. Keep the truth meaning of Kebaya!

3.      Alfi Cahya as a Student

​      Long time ago before the modern culture come to Indonesia, Kebaya is the one of daily clothes of Indonesian , but in this generation , young people that want to change the design of Kebaya makes some alternative to its meaning. Positively the design that change makes some people free to create their personal taste of Kebaya. But sometimes their freedom makes misconception on society. They make Kebaya be indecorous. But some people show their creativity in the right way. They make Kebaya into gorgeous and modern clothes but still in touch with traditional and truth meaning of Kebaya.

My Group Conclusion :

​​      It’s okay if we choose modern Kebaya or traditional Kebaya at least we still keep the value inside of it. Just make it sure that our Kebaya not extinct. Because Kebaya has become our icon so it’s our job to continue to wear and keep Kebaya. It's no problem if Kebaya has many design, its sound good for our group because people can choose what the taste of Kebaya they want. So there is nothing problem at all in Kebaya at least the value of it not gone.
